2018 Maruti Ertiga has been launched in India with petrol and diesel engines. Its CNG variant will be launching within the next 6 months. It will be based on the new 1.5 Litre petrol engine.
Maruti Suzuki introduced the new-gen Ertiga in India. The new prices start at Rs 7.44 Lakhs going up to Rs 10.90 Lakhs. Currently, it is only available in petrol and diesel variants.
The earlier generation also came in CNG variant, which will also come in this generation Ertiga. Maruti has stated it will launch the CNG variant within the next 6 months. The launch has been delayed because the CNG kits have to be tuned to the new petrol engine.
Reports say that the 1.5 Litre K15B petrol engine will be offered with CNG as well as with the mild-hybrid SHVS system. Both the motors with CNG would offer even better fuel efficiency.
Ertiga CNG is used by taxi fleets as well as by private buyers. CNG rates are running at around Rs 45/kg, which is a lot lesser than petrol prices. In CNG-equipped cars, the loss of power is minimal and also it reduces the boot space.
The new petrol engine is not BS-6 compliant. There are chances that 2018 Maruti Ertiga CNG might come with the BS-6 1.5 Litre petrol engine. Both the updated engines might also be introduced with the CNG variant.
2018 Maruti Ertiga receives many feature additions, which include Rear AC vents, Remote keyless entry, Day/night inside rear view mirror, Steering-mounted audio and telephony controls, Automatic climate control, Push button start/stop and SmartPlay infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and navigation.
Safety features onboard include Dual airbags, ABS with EBD, Isofix child seat mounts, Speed sensitive door locks, Rear parking sensors, Electronic Stability Program (AT), Hill Hold Function (AT) and a Rear parking camera.
2018 Maruti Ertiga uses the new petrol engine and the same-old 1.3 Litre DDiS diesel engine. The petrol engine puts out 103 BHP and 138 Nm of peak torque. The diesel engine puts out 88 BHP and 200 Nm of peak torque.
For transmission purposes, both the engines come with 5-speed manual transmission as standard. The automatic unit is offered on the petrol engine only.
As of now, no MPV or SUV offers optional CNG variant. Only Maruti cars and some Hyundai models offer CNG. The list of Maruti cars includes Alto, WagonR, Ertiga and Celerio. Eon, Grand i10 and Xcent offer CNG variants as well.
