The Kia Sonet is one of the most popular compact SUVs in the country straight out of the launch. Its striking bold looks, feature-packed cabin and a plethora of engine-transmission combination options are some of the highlights for the massive popularity of the compact SUV. Now, Sonet will bring with it the brand’s new logo for the first time in India. Some of the images already show the new logo-equipped Sonet reaching the dealerships and the official launch might well be just around the corner. While this is not a facelift, per se, still it will act as a refreshing change to Sonet in a bd to keep the product fresh in the face of such tough competition from its rivals. Almost all the major players are present in this segment and Kia does not want to give any room to the rivals to get ahead in the competition. In addition to the new logo, there might be some reshuffling of the variants for 2021. What exactly they are, remains to be seen.
2021 Kia Sonet – Key Changes
The upcoming Kia Sonet will not feature a ton of changes on the exterior or the interior bar the new brand logo on the nose upfront. Kia launched its new logo just a few weeks ago and Indian products still badge the older version. Kia Sonet will be the first product with which Kia is planning to introduce its new logo in our market. Apart from that, there might be a few new variants that will be added to the already long list of variants for the Sonet. This will be done to enhance the flexibility and offer the customers even more options while buying the Sonet. This has been Kia’s strength, that it has so many variants that the customers always end up getting the exact things that they want from their vehicle.
2021 Kia Sonet – Features and Safety
The features of the Kia Sonet are also likely to remain similar to the model that is currently on sale in India. The interiors of the Kiger revolve around the 8-inch Digital Infotainment Touchscreen with wireless smartphone replication for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto with Voice Recognition, USB and Bluetooth connectivity for seamless pairing of smartphones to use the driving and multimedia apps. Through the MULTI-SENSE setup, the drive can choose from various driving modes according to the conditions, like Normal, Eco and Sports mode. All this information is available to the driver via a 7-inch TFT Digital Instrument Cluster. Then there is the Auditorium 3D Sound system with 8 speakers, Ambient Lighting, Hands-free smart access card, Automatic Climate Control, Air Filter and much more. On the safety front, the Kiger comes equipped with dual-front airbags as well as two side airbags, Radar Sensors and Reverse Parking Camera, front seats get seat belt reminder alert, ABS with EBD, Three-point seatbelts for front and rear passengers (rear center passenger gets a two-point seatbelt).
2021 Kia Sonet – Engines and Expected Prices
There will be no changes to the engine and transmission options for the Sonet. This means that the engine options will include a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol, a 1.5-litre diesel and a powerful and peppy 1.0-litre turbo petrol unit which produces 82 hp, 115 hp, 120 hp and 115 Nm, 240 Nm and 172 Nm respectively. The transmission options include a 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual, iMT, DCT and a 6-speed automatic. This, as one could imagine, encompasses all the possible transmission combinations as per the requirement of the customers. The current prices of the Sonet start from Rs 6.79 lakh and go all the way up to Rs 13.19 lakh, ex-showroom. We expect the prices to remain almost the same.
