Maruti introduced the Fronx, a mid-size crossover SUV, this year to venture into a new market segment. While they already offer the Brezza in the B2-segment SUV category, the Fronx competes with more budget-friendly options. Its rivals include the likes of the Tata Punch, Hyundai Exter and Citroen C3. However, the Fronx hasn’t undergone GNCAP testing yet. It’s based on the Heartect platform, which has typically received low ratings at GNCAP, often ranging from 0 to 2 stars. While Maruti claims safety improvements in the Fronx, the veracity of these enhancements remains unverified until the car undergoes testing.

One of the noteworthy features of the Fronx is its inclusion of ESP (Electronic Stability Program) starting from the base model. ESP is a crucial element for attaining a 5-star crash test rating according to the latest GNCAP protocols. In this article, we’ll delve into the safety features of the Maruti Fronx and provide insights into what you can anticipate when driving it.

Maruti Fronx Safety Review

Despite Maruti’s consistent dedication to safety and its continuous efforts to elevate the safety standards of its vehicles, the Fronx has faced criticism over its perceived lack of a sturdy body structure and safety features. The Fronx is underpinned by the Heartect platform, originating from the Baleno premium hatchback. It follows Suzuki’s Total Effective Control Technology (TECT) design philosophy. Maruti Suzuki has subjected the new Fronx to comprehensive safety assessments, including front offset impact, full frontal impact, and side impact tests, aligning with global safety standards.

However, until date, there are no studies to support this claim. In fact, the few accidents that have been reported so far hint at a reasonably robust body structure. Also, the Fronx boasts a rather comprehensive safety kit that includes 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child seat anchorages, and a rear parking camera. Speaking of the sales, the Fronx has had a pretty promising start of its career. In September, Maruti could sell 11,455 units of the Fronx. While this figure is commendable, chances of the car’s popularity increasing owing to a high NCAP safety rating are very high.
