So the Toyota Corolla Altis receives a facelift and the good news is that it’s sure to come to India! The new Toyota Corolla Altis 2017 will make its sales debut in Russia in late 2016.  The new Toyota Corolla 2017 facelift builds upon Toyota’s ‘Under Priority and Keen Look’ design philosophy and hence, manages to look sharper and more stylish. Apart from a host of cosmetic changes, the Altis 2017 also carries minor mechanical updates and additional features. Expect the new 2017 Toyota Corolla Altis to come to India by April. The mechanical updates for this car include a new EPS and a revised suspension. However, the engines will remain the same. Hence, India will continue to get the 1.8-litre Petrol and 1.4-litre Diesel motors.

New Toyota Corolla 2017 India Launch Date

The new Toyota Corolla 2017 facelift went on sale in Russia around the end of 2016. While we are yet to get an official word on the new Toyota Corolla 2017 India launch date, the new model Corolla Altis is expected to hit dealerships by April 2017. Our guess is that the new Toyota Corolla 2017 India launch will happen around the March-April period.

Toyota had been dominating the segment with the Corolla Altis until the new Hyundai Elantra came out in August 2016. Since then, it has been losing customers to the Elantra and the Skoda Octavia as well. The launch of the facelift should help Toyota regain some of the lost market share.

New Toyota Corolla 2017 Price in India

As we said, the new Corolla Altis gets many new safety and comfort features. Hence, we expect a minor price hike over the current model. The entry-level Altis 2017 is expected to cost Rs. 14 Lakh. Currently, the Toyota Corolla Altis in India is priced between Rs. 13.79 lakh and Rs. 18.67 lakh.

The Corolla 2017 gets the same engines as the current model. Hence, India will continue to get the 1.8 litre Petrol and the 1.4 litre Diesel engine options. The 2017 Toyota Corolla Altis facelift definitely looks sharper and classier than the current model. This is chiefly due to the manufacturer’s Under Priority design language. The front facade is entirely new and carries new elements like LED headlamps with DRLs, new grille, sportier air dam, new fog lamps and a revised hood.

When seen in side profile, you will notice the new design 17 inch alloy wheels and chrome applique on the door handles. The rear end, however, is almost the same as that of the current model. But you do get a new set of LED taillamps here. Like we said, the new model Toyota Corolla 2017 facelift will go on sale in three new paint options.

Talking about the interior, one is quick to notice the updated upholstery and quality of materials. The controls for the aircon are also new and look better. The new Electronic Power Steering offers more feedback and is sharper. Also, the NVH levels have gone down, which means that the Corolla Altis facelift is quieter than the pre-facelift car. Another highlight is the touch interface for navigation, and the new 4.2 inch Multi Information Display.

The new car is also safer than its predecessor. It gets a list of new features that make it safer. Available on the new Corolla are- Lane departure Alert (LDA), Pre collision System (PCS), Automatic High Beam (AHB), and Road Sign Assist (RSA).

New Toyota Corolla 2017 India Engine & Transmission

The new 2017 Toyota Corolla Altis facelift gets the same old engines. Powering the petrol variant is a 1.8 litre, 4 cylinder petrol engine that puts out 138 BHP and 173 Nm. The Diesel engine is a 1.4 litre, 4 cylinder, a turbocharged unit that puts out 87.2 bhp and 205 Nm. Easily expect these engines to get a minor re-tune. The Petrol engine can be ordered with either a 6 Speed manual or a CVT gearbox. On the other hand, the Diesel model is available with a 6 Speed manual transmission only.
