It has emerged that Toyota Kirloskar Motors (TKM) could be contemplating bringing the Yaris hatchback to India. While there’s no official word on the Toyota Yaris India launch date, rumours abound that this globally successful model could be launched in India in 2018. In a recent interview with HT, Akito Tachibana, MD Toyota Kirloskar Motor, said his company could launch the Yaris in near future. However, it will make sure to tweak the car to suit Indian driving conditions. He went on to say that coming up with an all-new product, developed specifically for India, isn’t feasible at the moment. When launched, the Toyota Yaris will face some popular rivals like the Hyundai Elite i20, the Maruti Baleno and the Honda Jazz.
