Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India has rolled out the 2017 Activa 4G and Dio scooters. Highlights of the updated scooters include a new BSIV-compliant engine and auto headlamp on. They also get slight updates to their appearance and new features as well. Both scooters are powered by the same engine. In terms of appearance, though, these scooters couldn’t be more different. Honda Activa 4G vs Honda Dio 2017 Comparison of Price

Priced at Rs. 50,730, the new Activa 4G is slightly more expensive than the new 2017 Honda Dio. There’s a difference of around 1600 Rupees in the ex-showroom Delhi price of the two scooters from Honda.

Honda Activa 4G vs Honda Dio 2017 Comparison of Features

Thanks to the new norms by the Government, both the Activa 4G and the 2017 Honda Dio get a BS-IV compliant engine and Auto Headlamp On. Both Scooters also feature Honda’s Combi Braking System or CBS. Honda Dio features body graphics and LED pilot lamps, something the Honda Activa 4G does not get. Both scooters get an under seat charging point for smartphones. Honda offers the Dio in 5 colours, while the Activa 4G is available in 7 colour options.

Both the scooters are powered by the same 109.10 cc engine. While power and torque figures for both are identical, the Dio develops peak power at a slightly lower 7000 RPM.

The Dio being lighter could be more fuel efficient than the Activa. However, official figures are unavailable right now.

The Activa 4G and Dio feature very contrasting styling. While the Activa is more conservative and conventional in its approach, the Dio oozes flamboyance. It gets bright colours and body graphics, which along with the stylish exterior, give it a very youthful design. The more conservative styling of the Activa is meant to please all and judging by its sales number it manages to do just that. For the 2017 MY Dio, Honda has added new paint shades and updated the styling. It gets a new front apron and LED Pilot lamp as well. The 2017 Honda Activa 4G is nearly identical to the older Activa 3G.

• Design – The Honda Dio looks much more sporty. Honda Activa’s styling comparatively conservative.
• Specifications – Both scooters get the same engine.
• Mileage – The Dio could be a wee bit more fuel efficient thanks to a lower kerb weight.
• Price – The Dio holds a slight price advantage over the Activa 4G. But for a slightly higher price, Activa offers an all-metal body.

Honda Activa 4G has universal appeal. You simply can’t go wrong with the tried and tested Activa, which also happens to be India’s most popular two wheeler. However, if you’re looking for something that looks a bit more sporty while offering the same frugal nature of the Activa then the Dio is a very good option.
