MG has unveiled the Astor to compete against the likes of Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and Skoda Kushaq in the mid-size SUV segment. The Astor brings a unique proposition to the table with its first-in-segment Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) features. The MG Astor comes with the option of either a 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine making 140 PS and 220 Nm or a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine making 110 PS and 144 Nm of peak power and torque respectively. The turbo petrol comes with a sole 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox while the regular petrol comes with either a 5-speed manual or an 8-speed CVT gearbox. The prices of the Astor are expected to be in the region of Rs 10 lakh and Rs 17 lakh, ex-showroom. The launch is expected to take place in the coming weeks around the festive season. Interestingly, the VW Taigun mid-size SUV will also launch very soon making the segment very competitive indeed.
