As we all know, TVS is working on an electric vehicle for India. Fresh reports confirm that its first EV will be launched in FY 2019-20 itself.
Automotive brands in India are working towards launching their electric vehicles as soon as possible. The trend of EVs in our country will increase post 2020, because that’s when most of them are coming.
Indian two-wheeler manufacturer TVS is working on the same project, as we know. Earlier, it had showcased an electric cruiser as well as an electric scooter. After that, there haven’t been many talks about that.
New reports reveal that the manufacturer will launch its first EV this finanial year itself. Any guesses, what could its first clean energy vehicle be?
TVS Creon was showcased at an earlier Auto Expo, which was positioned as a performance electric scooter. It came packed with a fully digital speedometer with Bluetooth connection, GPS Navigation and Geo Fencing.
It came with three lithium-ion battery packs, which produced nearly 12 Kw of power. The scooter sprints from 0-60 km/hr in 5.1 seconds flat, which is a great feat by a scooter.
The riding range offered onboard is nearly 80 kms. It takes 1 hour to charge up to 80% with the aid of a fast charger. Further details will come out once the launch is closer.
For suspension, it might use telescopic forks at the front and a monoshock at the back, rather than the offset shock-up on the concept. Disc brake at the front and a rear drum brake with single-ABS might also be offered.
Interestingly, there is another electric bike that has a relation with TVS. Ultraviolette Automotive is developing a new performance electric bike, with power figures equivalent to a 200-250cc motorcycle.
TVS has backed the electric mobility startup with funding. Ultraviolette F77 E-bike is scheduled to launch in India by the end of 2019. It has already been spied once, testing near its production house in Bengaluru.
