Earlier, it was reported that the first Kia car will launch in August 2019. Now, fresh reports say that its first launch will be Kia Trazor SUV in April 2019. It will be based on the Hyundai Creta.
Kia Motors, owned by Hyundai, is readying its car for the Indian markets. The Korean brand has already showcased some of its cars to Indian journalists. Earlier, it was reported that Kia will launch its first product in the Indian markets in the July-August period. However, fresh reports from NDTV Car and Bike says that process has been fastened. Now, instead of the July-August period, the first launch will happen in April 2019.
The Hyundai Creta based Kia Trazor SUV will be the first launch in India!
The first one is the Kia Trazor SUV. It is based on the popular Creta SUV. It will be priced a little bit more than the Hyundai Creta but will undercut the Jeep Compass. The expected price of the Kia Trazor is around Rs 9 lakhs to Rs 15 Lakhs.
Currently, Kia’s first plant in Andhra Pradesh is also ahead of its completion date. This means that the production will soon kick off and the reported timeframe is the start of 2019. Most probably, the bookings will start in March 2019 and the deliveries will begin by May end or June first week.
Would the Kia Trazor have the same engine specs as the Creta?
Since it is built on the same platform as Creta, it will also get the same engines. The Kia Trazor will get the same 1.4 Litre diesel, 1.6 Liter diesel and 1.6 Liter petrol engines. The diesel engines will be used in lower variants, which will only come with a manual transmission. Both of the other petrol and diesel engines will come with manual and automatic options.
However, that’s not all…..
The second in line will be the Kia Rio hatchback. It will soon launch after the Kia Trazor. Currently, the demand for B+ segment hatchbacks is very high in India. The Rio will enter this segment to take on the likes of Hyundai Elite i20, Honda Jazz and Maruti Suzuki Baleno.
Basically, let me tell you about the whole list.
Kia is also going to launch a compact sedan with the Rio hatchback. Then there is the Grand Carnival MPV, but Kia is also considering a smaller MPV. The last one on the list would be a sub-compact SUV to take on the likes of Brezza, EcoSport, and Nexon.
Coming back to Kia Trazor, let me tell you about what features it will come with.
Expect Projector Headlamps, Rain-Sensing Wipers, Automatic Headlamps, Automatic Climate Control, Multi-Functional Steering Wheel, Height Adjustable Driver’s Seat, Adjustable Steering Wheel, Keyless Entry, and Push Button Start-Stop.
The safety features onboard would include Dual Front Airbags, Side And Curtain Airbags, Reversing Parking Sensors, Anti-Lock Braking System, Electronic Brake Force Distribution, Electronic Stability Program and Traction Control.
