The Mahindra Bolero Power Plus variant has been silently updated with ABS while the standard Bolero still does not get ABS. We expect other safety updates to follow soon on both the models.

A couple of months earlier, in May, a Mahindra Bolero fitted with ABS was spotted at a dealership. Now, Mahindra has silently listed the Bolero Power Plus with ABS on their website. The SUV now gets ABS as standard fitment but there has been no official word on the pricing of the SUV as of yet.

The Mahindra Bolero Power Plus was a shorter version of the standard Bolero that was introduced a couple of years ago. While the regular Bolero is above 4 meters longs, the Power Plus variant was made to be under 4 meters to enjoy the tax benefits of small cars. However, it had the exact same wheelbase and interior space as the regular Bolero as the length was chopped off from the front and rear bumpers. In fact, the two Boleros look almost identical, except for the slightly redesigned bumpers. Its also significantly cheaper than the standard Bolero.

As per the latest safety regulations, all new cars have to be equipped with ABS and several other safety features mandatorily. While the Mahindra Bolero Power Plus variant has been equipped with ABS, there still has been no word on when the regular Bolero would be equipped with ABS. We are expecting that the regular Bolero would follow suit soon as the Power Plus variant has already been updated.

There are several other safety features that have become a mandate with the latest safety regulations in the country. These include a driverโ€™s side airbag, speed alert warning, seat belt reminders and rear parking sensors. Both the variants of the Mahindra Bolero must be equipped with these features soon.

Mahindra has also been working on introducing BS-VI compliant engines for all its models. The standard Bolero uses a 2.5L, diesel engine while the Bolero Power Plus uses a smaller 1.5L, diesel engine but it still produces more power than the bigger engine. Both these engines would be updated to meet the BS-VI emission norms and expect them to arrive closer to the BS-VI emissions deadline. ย
