Mahindra & Mahindra revealed their vision for the future of mobility last year with a slew of converted and born electric SUVs. Two of these, XUV.e9 and BE.05 have made their official debut.

Mahindra XUV.e9 and BE.05 have made their official debut recently at the Mahindra EV Fashion Festival in Hyderabad. The Indian SUV maker wishes to be proactive in the EV space. While the rivals like Tata Motors have taken a significant lead in the EV market in India with its Nexon EV, Tigor EV and Tiago EV, Mahindra has retaliated with the XUV400. Going forward, Mahindra has announced as many as 5 electric SUVs by 2025 in the Indian market. This has begun with the first two EVs making their debut. Here are the details.

Mahindra XUV.e9 and BE.05 Debut

Mahindra announced the debut of these SUVs at the EV Fashion Festival in Hyderabad via its Twitter handle. The XUV.e9 is an SUV coupe with muscular creases on the body. It measures 4,790 mm in length, 1,905 mm in width, 1,690 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,775 mm. It is slated to go into production in April 2025 which is fairly far away. However, the first EV in this series, the XUV.e8 will arrive earlier than the XUV.e9 in December 2024. Both these are ICE derivatives that will be converted to EVs.

On the other hand, the BE.05 will be based on the all-electric INGLO platform which will also underpin the bigger BE.07 and BE.09. The BE.05 will be the first of the BE series to go into production in October 2025 followed by the BE.07 in October 2026, while the dates for the BE.09 have not been announced yet. Nevertheless, the official debut of the Mahindra XUV.e9 and BE.05 is the first step in the right direction as the market prepares for a complete EV overhaul in the next couple of years.
