Maruti Suzuki India Ltd (MSIL) has just teased one of its upcoming concepts. This design study will be one of the Maruti cars at Auto Expo 2018. Dubbed as the Maruti Future S, this concept previews an upcoming small car that will have several crossover characteristics. The production-spec model will rival the likes of Renault Kwid and Datsun RediGo AMT. The Renault Kwid has successfully established itself in the market. While it is far from becoming a segment leader, it has definitely left a sizable dent in the sales of the Maruti Alto. In order to reclaim the lost territory, Maruti is readying a Kwid rival that will be based on the Future S concept. The concept will make its public debut at the Auto Expo 2018.
Going by the teaser image we have here, the Future S will have a rather upright stance and a slightly sloping roofline. This is a design feature that has so far been restricted to premium crossovers. Maruti says that the new model will offer a high seating position and a high ground clearance. Furthermore, the horizontal hood and high seating will give the driver a commanding view of the road.
Speaking on the new Maruti Future S, Mr.CV Raman, Senior Executive Director (Engineering), Maruti Suzuki said, “The increasing preference for UVs and their bold architecture inspired our design team to study a new character for compact cars. ConceptFutureS could mark a distinctive shift in how compact cars are shaped and designed in India in the future.” Check Out – Upcoming Maruti Cars in India
