Maruti Suzuki Ertiga Cross is expected to sit marginally higher than the on-going MPV.
It’s not long since we reported that we can expect a sport version of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga later this year. Now new spy shots taken in Pune have made the speculations play safe that a rugged version of the popular MPV is likely to be called, Ertiga Cross.
On a close look, the test mule shares its body panels with the on-going Ertiga, the former does get an upright nose, raised bonnet along with a larger front grille. It now houses large headlamps with LED day time running lights and chrome of line joining the two. The front fascia also sees a new front bumper with large air intakes.
Maruti Suzuki Ertiga Cross now gains muscle and gets more cladding that runs from the front to the rear. The upcoming MPV sees a raised height indicating an increase in ground clearance than the on-going Ertiga. It now gets roof rails and likely to get some decals to enhance the appeal. The rear of the car also sees some restyled taillights and tweaked rear bumper to justify the rugged look of the MPV.
Although the interiors are not clearly seen, we can expect it to follow an all-black theme. Also, the biggest change that Maruti Suzuki Ertiga Cross might carry is the caption seats for the second row. The strict six-seat layout is expected to be seen on the upcoming cross MPV.
The model spied in the picture is fitted with emission testing gear which indicates that it might be testing the new BS-VI compliance petrol engine under the bonnet. The speculations also suggest that it will only be available in K15B petrol engine and no diesel engine will come on-board.
The upcoming Ertiga Cross will sit above the top-end trim of the on-going MPV and it might be sold only through NEXA dealerships. The upcoming MPV will be sportier and also carry new colour options to give a distinct look.
