New Maruti Suzuki Celerio will get the new 1.2L K12M engine and will also offers features like a large 7-inch touchscreen infotainment, multi-function steering wheel, among others.
It is going to be the busiest 18-24 months for Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) as the manufacturers plan to expand their portfolio by at least 10 – 12 models. This includes bringing new generation models of the existing cars and SUVs and secondly giving some minor tweaks to the styling. One such car that will come in generation fresh is New Maruti Celerio which is codenamed as YNC.
The idea behind revamping their models is to lead the driving growth in terms of sales which can be possible by bringing in updated designs. The reports suggest that the new Maruti Celerio will launch exactly a year after the production-ready Maruti Future-S Concept which is scheduled to launch later this year.
The upcoming hatchback is likely to ditch its current platform to Heartect platform which the new WagonR adopted this year. The Heartect platform is the advanced platform the brings the improvements in the stability and safety and it gets a new structure.
Earlier this year, the manufacturers launched an all-new WagonR with the same platform and now gets the more powerful 1.2-litre K series engine. The car gets revamped body styling, new interiors and some new tech-friendly features with an efficient AMT gearbox.
Apart from a new Heartect platform and the 1.2-litre four cylinders K12M petrol engine, the interiors of the upcoming Celerio will also see changes. It will borrow some of the features like the 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system supporting Apply CarPlay and Android Auto, multi-function steering wheel and more.
Safety features like a driver-side airbag, rear parking sensors, ABS with EBD, front seat belt reminder and high-speed alert system will come with the new Celerio.
Maruti Suzuki Celerio was launched back in 2014 and the car received a mid-cycle facelift over the years but could not dominate the sale of its own siblings like WagonR. Later on the more rugged version of the car Celerio X was launched to boost up the sales.
Currently, Maruti Suzuki Celerio is available in a 5-speed manual and 5-speed AGS gearbox. It is available in both petrol and CNG variants, the latter which is deprived of automatic transmission. It is expected that the new Celerio will keep up this trend. The prices for the on-going Celerio starts at Rs 4.41 lakh for the base trim and goes up top Rs 5.58 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the top end variant.
It is believed that models like Alto, Eeco and Ignis will get minor updates so they comply with upcoming safety and emission norms. The much popular models like Baleno and Brezza will receive a facelift along with the addition of petrol engine to the Brezza lineup.
