Suzuki Swift Posh Special Edition launched goes on sale in Italy for €13,450

Suzuki’s Italian division has launched a special edition of its popular hatchback, the Swift, in the country. Dubbed the Suzuki Swift Posh, the new special edition is targeted at female buyers and its production is limited to a run of just 100 units! The company has made a few modifications to the Swift’s exterior and interior to make the car more appealing to the fairer sex. The Suzuki Swift Posh edition is priced between €13,450-€14,750, which is around Rs 10.45-Rs 11.46 lakhs.

The changes made to the Suzuki Swift Posh special edition include a exterior as well as interior changes:

  • New Amethyst Grey metallic paint shade
  • New grille with dual chrome strips. Much like the previous gen Swift Dzire.
  • Two-tone 16 inch mirror finish alloy wheels.
  • Alcantara seat fabric with violet contrasts and stiching
  • Leather finished steering and gear knob with violet stiching
  • Bluetooth Connectivity
  • Cruise Control
  • Keyless entry

All cosmetic changes have been made in order to appeal to female buyers and they seem to have done a decent enough job. Thankfully, they’ve kept off silly body graphics which seem to be the norm with special editions in India. There are also daytime running LED lights which are missing from the Indian version.

The engine options haven’t been changed and the Suzuki Swift Posh edition comes with the familiar 1.2 litre Petrol producing 85 bhp and the 1.3 litre DDiS diesel making 73 bhp. The petrol is available with either a 4 speed automatic or a 5 speed manual transmission while the diesel gets only the manual gearbox.

We are yet to see gender specific special editions in India. However, marketing strategies for certain products have targeted specific genders such as the Hero Pleasure with its “Why should boys have all the fun?” tagline or Maruti’s “Men are back” campaign for the SX4 sedan. Maybe Maruti could do something similar to the Suzuki Swift Posh for the Indian market.
