The Safari is the iconic SUV with a modern garb that has many cult followers. The XUV700, on the other hand, is the modern craze with an unprecedented response right from the launch. Safari vs XUV700 – Drag Race
The YouTuber duo is famous for performing drag races with many cars. This time is no different. The race starts with the two SUVs side-by-side up until the first few seconds. With the speeds crossing around the 70 km/h mark, the XUV700 triumphs the Safari quite comfortably. However, a lot, in these drag races, depends on the launch. In the second attempt, after the drivers have been swapped, the launch by the driver of the XUV700 is spot on. As a result, the XUV700 simply trounces the Safari, with the latter nowhere to be seen apart from the rearview mirrors for the entire duration of the race. This is somewhat expected considering the diesel engine of the XUV700 is much more powerful and torquier than that of Safari.

Tata Safari comes with the 2.0-litre Kryotec diesel engine making 170 PS and 350 Nm of peak power and torque respectively. There is the option of either a 6-speed manual or an automatic gearbox. The prices of the Tata Safari start at Rs 14.99 lakh and go all the way up to Rs 23.19 lakh, ex-showroom. The Mahindra XUV, on the other hand, comes with the most powerful engine in the segment. It is a 2.2-litre diesel that outputs 185 PS and 450 Nm of peak power and torque. There are options of choosing between either a 6-speed manual or an automatic. The prices range between Rs 12.49 lakh and Rs 22.99 lakh, ex-showroom.
