The Volkswagen Polo and Vento have grown by 19% in sales for the festive October month owing to a recent makeover of both cars and several benefits given by the brand.
Volkswagen gave the Polo and the Vento a makeover a couple of months ago and that was just in time for the festive season. Come the festive season, Volkswagen India has registered a 19% growth in sales for the Polo and the Vento. The auto industry has been on the road to recovery in the month of October due to the festive season ramping up the purchase decisions of the buyers.
Volkswagen has sold 3213 units of the Polo and the Vento in October 2019, as opposed to 3191 units that were sold during the same month last year. While car sales are still lower than expectations, it has shown some minor improvements over the last few months. However, it must be noted that the month of October was a non-festive month in the year 2018.
Speaking on the positive volumes, Steffen Knapp, Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars said, “Volkswagen India has been consistent in its performance on a month-to-month basis. The brand has been driving sustainable growth, which is reflected through our October 2019 results. It gives me immense pleasure to attribute this accomplishment to our product pillars – New Polo & Vento. As a brand, we’re devoted towards offering a value-for-money proposition to Indian customers.”
Volkswagen certainly put in effort to turn around the sales chart for them. As part of the update that the Polo and Vento got this September, both cars get a new GTI-inspired grille, new bumpers, new red paint scheme, and a new GT-Line trim that adds sportier elements including a blacked out roof, lip spoiler, decals, and more. Volkswagen also announced a five-year warranty on the diesel models of the Polo, Ameo and the Vento. The petrol versions get a four-year warranty period as standard. Furthermore, customers were also treated to a number of offers, benefits and discounts by the company and dealers for the festive season. Both cars remain mechanically unchanged however.
However, Volkswagen hasn’t revealed any sales figure of its three other cars – Ameo, Tiguan and Passat – for the month of October, 2019. Come 2020, Volkswagen has quite an aggressive product strategy lined up for India. The T-Roc is going to be unveiled at the 2020 Auto Expo and we also have a new mid-size sedan and a new hatchback specifically developed for India coming from Volkswagen in the first half of the next decade. Volkswagen’s sister brand, Skoda, too has a bunch of exciting cars lined up which include the new generation Octavia, new compact SUV, the Rapid replacement and the RS version of the Kodiaq, to name a few.
