The Japan-spec 2017 Suzuki Wagon R has been unveiled officially. Leaked images that surfaced online sometime back had already completely revealed the new Wagon R and Stingray models. While the pictures you see here are of the car for the Japanese market, the next Maruti Wagon R for India could borrow heavily from this model in terms of design. There have been multiple reports suggesting the new 2017 Maruti Wagon R is scheduled to arrive in India by the end of this year or early 2018. These images of the 2017 Wagon R give us a glimpse of what the next generation 2017 Maruti Suzuki Wagon R might look like.

2017 Maruti Suzuki Wagon R – Exterior Design
Akin to the current model, the new 2017 Wagon R for India will not be exactly identical to the one that will be sold in Japan. However, it will borrow heavily from the Japanese model in terms of design. While the front end might feature a slightly different look, the side profiles of both cars could be identical. The Japan-spec model is available in three variants. The split headlamp setup looks cool, but might be given a miss in India.
The rear end styling of the Wagon R for India will surely be different. The one seen in images here boasts low mounted stop lamps. However, this will not go down well with Indian tastes, so expect the India-bound Wagon R to feature a more conventional setup.

2017 Maruti Suzuki Wagon R – Interiorย Design
The 2017 Maruti Suzuki Wagon R gets an all-new design on the inside. The interior of the next generation Wagon R looks far more modern when compared to that of the current car. The dashboard of the Wagon R, for the the first time ever, gets a centrally positioned speedo console. It also gets a slightly Audi-ish aircon vents setup. Apart from this, even the steering wheel looks sportier. It resembles the one that you get on the new Ignis. There’s a centrally-positioned touchscreen infotainment system as well.

Maruti could unveil the production spec Wagon R for the Indian market by the end of nextย year. But, for now, Maruti will be focussing on the new Swift and Dzire models for the Indian market. In all probability, the 1.0 L Petrol engine will continue to power the Maruti Wagon R. Apart from a 5-speed manual transmission option, a 5-speed AMT will also be on offer. Here’s what the current WagonR’s spec sheet looks like
