New Maruti cars at Auto Expo 2023

  • The Indian Auto Expo 2023 is slated to commence in Greater Noida on January 11, 2023.
  • Maruti Suzuki will display a ton of new products and upcoming EV technology.
  • Here are all the cars and SUVs that will be showcased at the Auto Expo from Maruti.

Maruti will display at least 3 new cars in the form of SUVs at the Auto Expo 2023 which will be held in Greater Noida from the 11th of January 2023, onwards. This event will take place after a gap of 3 years due to the pandemic. Traditionally, the event is held every 2 years. But that means that the carmaker will have more products to showcase due to the gap of 3 years from the last Auto Expo. Let us have a look at the new cars Maruti will bring to the Auto Expo 2023

Jimny 5-Door

Unarguably the most anticipated SUV in the market from Maruti Suzuki has to be the 5-door Jimny. It is the more practical version of the regular Jimny that is sold the world over. For our market, Maruti plans to have the long wheelbase version to accommodate 5 seats and a decent boot. In terms of the specifications, it will most likely come powered by a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder K15B petrol engine producing 103 hp and 138 Nm of peak power and torque. There will be the option of either a 5-speed MT or a 4-speed AT with a low-range transfer case. It will rival the likes of Mahindra Thar and Force Gurkha in their respective 5-door versions.

The next model in this list of new Maruti cars at Auto Expo 2023 is the YTB Crossover that we have seen multiple times via spy shots. It will be based on the Baleno but would be positioned below the Brezza. Essentially, it will replace the not-so-popular S-Cross in our market. While there are not many details about the powertrain, it could get the 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine that we saw in the Baleno RS earlier. This engine makes 100 PS and 150 Nm of peak power and torque.

YY8 EV Concept

Maruti YY8 EV concept could be the most striking product among all Maruti cars at Auto Expo 2023.

The most striking product could, however, be the upcoming electric SUV from Maruti which is internally codenamed YY8. It will be the first electric concept from Maruti that will most likely be developed in cooperation with Toyota. This will mark Maruti’s entry into the electrification in years to come. We are yet to find any details about the powertrain of this but it will rival the wildly successful Tata Nexon EV and the upcoming Mahindra XUV400.

New Colour of Ignis, Baleno, Ciaz, XL6 and Grand Vitara

Maruti Suzuki will showcase Black Editions of its Nexa range comprising Ignis, Baleno, Ciaz, XL6 and Grand Vitara.

Finally, the new Maruti cars at Auto Expo 2023 will even include the recently introduced Black Editions of its Nexa range. What this means is that the new Black Edition range of the company’s premium models will be on full display. These will include all-black versions of the Ignis, Baleno, Ciaz, XL6 and grand Vitara. The launch of the new colour scheme should help the company capitalize on the Dark Edition trend started by Tata Motors.
