The interesting thing to note here is that the Alturas’s main competitor, the Toyota Fortuner to has the same safety rating.

The Alturas is based on the G4 SsangYong Rexton currently on sale in the European markets.

The move to sell the next-generation Rexton in India as a Mahindra product is due to the low sales of the previous generation Rexton.

SsangYong as a brand was not able to gain popularity in the Indian market.

With the Mahindra Badging and a new name, the Alturas hence has a better chance of performing in the Indian market.
