The top spec M8 variant was the only trim in Mahindra Marazzo line-up which was not available with an Eight-seater option.
Mahindra Marazzo, according to an official statement released by the homegrown automaker is now available with an eight-seat configuration in its top-spec M8 variant. Launched in India last year, this MPV currently retails in a total of 4 trim levels. Out of these, all the variants except the top-spec M8 trim were earlier available with a choice of seven or eight seat configurations. The reason for introducing the same at a later stage is likely to due to demand for eight-seats in the top-spec trim of the Marazzo.
The Mahindra Marazzo offers a unique combination of a ladder frame chassis with a front wheel drive configuration. It is a unique set-up as majorly, ladder frame chassis based vehicle is rear-wheel drive. This set-up has allowed Mahindra to offer a flat floor for the second row of occupants resulting in improved legroom. In addition to this, the front-wheel-drive set-up allows this rather large MPV to have car-like driving manners.
The Mahindra Marazzo was launched in India with an option of just a diesel engine under its hood. This oil-burner is an all-new 1.5-litre unit capable of churning out 120 BHP of power along with 300 Nm of peak torque. As standard, this engine is available with a 6-speed manual transmission. Mahindra has chosen not to introduce a petrol derivative. Neither has it launched an automatic transmission in the MPV’s line-up as of yet.
Mahindra says that the Marazzo will get a petrol engine at a later stage. And that this engine is going to be a BS-VI complaint unit. Expect Mahindra to launch the petrol derivative of the Marazzo sometime by the end of this year. This is around the same time that the automaker will also introduce an automatic gearbox in the car’s line-up.
The prices for the Mahindra Marazzo currently fall in-between the bracket of INR 9.99 lakh to INR 13.90 lakh. The new top-spec M8 variant with eight seats is available with a premium of just INR 8,000 over the top-spec M8 variant with seven -seats.
During the month of February this year, Mahindra is going to introduce an all-new sub-compact SUV, the XUV300 in the Indian market. Expected to compete against the like of Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and Ford EcoSport, it is likely to fall in-between the price range of INR 7 lakh to INR 11 lakh (ex-showroom).
