The Mahindra U321 MPV or the new premium people carrier from the homegrown automaker is expected to soon launch in India. It is amongst one of the highly anticipated vehicles for this year as it will rival against the current segment leader and the all-time favourite, Toyota Innova Crysta. Mahindra has been testing this vehicle very aggressively which has resulted in a number of spy shots of this vehicle surfacing on the internet and hence creating a series of speculations around it. When Is It Going To Launch?
Going by recent developments, we believe that the launch of the Mahindra U321 MPV is likely to happen during the month of August this year. We believe that the project is in its final stages and the automaker is working on the final fine tuning of the vehicle before its launch.

How Much Is It Going To Cost?
Well, as mentioned before, this new MPV is going to be a premium product and is going to sit alongside the Mahindra XUV 500 in the automaker’s model line-up. Targeted to attract an Innova buyer, this vehicle will have several goodies and creature comforts. As a result of this, prices are expected to start upward of INR 12 lakh. On the other hand, the top of the line variant could touch an estimated price tag of INR 18 lakh.

Is It Going To Have A Diesel Engine?
Yes, of course! Mahindra is believed to be working on an all-new 1.6-litre diesel engine. Part of the automaker’s mFalcon series, this unit is expected to churn out 125 BHP of power along with 305 Nm of peak torque. Mahindra is likely to use this engine in another vehicle as well. Transmission duties are likely to be carried out by a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard. In addition to this, there will be an automatic gearbox in the line-up as well.
What About A Petrol Engine?
Well, as times change and with the tightening of regulations around diesel power plants, in all likeliness, Mahindra is going to include a petrol engine in the U321’s model line-up in India. Though not confirmed, it is likely that this gasoline engine is going to be a 1.5-litre unit capable of producing 120 BHP along with 200 Nm of peak torque. Just like the diesel engine, this is also going to have 6-speed manual gearbox as standard across the range. While top-spec trims will also get an automatic unit.
It Is Going To Be Feature Loaded?
Yes! At least we expect it to be. Likely to fall in the price segment of INR 12 Lakh to 18 lakh, the Mahindra U321 MPV will come with an impressive feature list. For instance, it will have projector headlamps, LED daytime running lights, LED tail-lamps, a touchscreen infotainment systems and automatic climate control among the others. Should One Wait For It Or Just Go With the Innova Crysta?
Well, Mahindra has lined-up some pretty impressive utility vehicles for India in the coming days. These vehicles are developed in partnership with other international automobile brands which the homegrown automaker now owns, be it SsangYong or the Pininfarina design studio. And the U321 is the result of all this R&D itself.
