Pros and Cons of Ceramic Coating

There are various benefits and characteristics of Ceramic Coating including:

  • It has hydrophobic properties which ensures that water doesn’t stick on the surface for long. That prevents stains from getting accumulated on the surface.
  • It protects the surface from bird droppings and prevents the paint from sunshine and minor scratches.
  • A good ceramic coating has a hardness of 9H-10H which adds around 2-3 microns of thickness.
  • It enhances the UV protection traits of the paint a lot even though the basic stock coat also offers some UV protection.
  • It doesn’t attract too much dirt and grime on the surface.

There are certain aspects that could reduce the life of a ceramic coating:

  • People who get the ceramic coating done, think that they can abuse the car and it will still protect the paint. That is simply not the case. You still need to follow healthy practices to extend the life of this coating.
  • You should try not to wash the car with hard water and also not use a dirty cloth to clean the vehicle.
  • Washing intervals should be long so that the foam doesn’t make the coating worn out.

Ceramic coating can enhance the paint life of your car a lot. This can be useful in cases where the owners are bound to park the car outside under environmental conditions. Heavy rains and harsh sunlight generally affect the paint of the car which is why it is advised to park the car under shade. But since it is not possible all the time, Hence, this coating can help in those situations.
