The body shell of both the cars was questioned but nonetheless, the cars proved to shine in the crash test norms.\n\n\n\nThe Latin NCAP (New Car Assesment Program) crash tests have given India made Ford Figo and Aspire a 4-star safety rating in its latest crash test results. The Latin NCAP primarily deals with the Mexico region.\n\n\n\nFord Figo and Aspire acquired four stars for both adult and child occupancy safety rating. Both the cars are made in their Sanand plant based in Gujarat. The crash test saw full front and side impact collision. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDigging deep into the model then it was updated with four airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC, Isofix child mount seats and front set belt reminders. And with the side impact collision, the chest area was the constant while other areas were protected fully. \n\n\n\nThe crash tests were also performed with 18-month as well as a three month old dummies which recorded an adequate safety rating for younger occupants. But the bodyshell of Ford's was doubted in the tests. \n\n\n\nFord Ka, which is a similar looking car is not approved by this crash test norms. The car is manufactured in Brazil. The tested Figo sedan was available in 4.2mm and India spec Aspire is under 4m. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTalking about the safety features in the Aspire present in India then it comes with dual airbags, Anti-lock Braking System with Electronic Brake Force Distribution and high speed alert system. The diesel engine produces a total of 99 bhp and a peak torque of 215 Nm while the petrol engine pulls out 95 bhp and a torque of 120 Nm. The ARAI certified fuel economy sticks at 25.5 kmpl and 20.5 kmpl respectively. Transmission option is handled by a 5-speed manual gearbox. \n\n\n\nIn terms of automatic trims, both the cars that is Figo and Aspire get a 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine. which churns out 121 bhp with a peak torque of 150 Nm. Transmission option is limited to a 6-speed AT gearbox.
