Chevrolet India Launches 2012 Tavera Neo 3 MPV New Model Starting At Rs. 6.36 Lakhs

Chevrolet (General Motors India) has revealed the all new refreshed Chevrolet Tavera Neo3 MPV at the Auto Expo 2012 with all the details, specifications and pictures. What was left to be revealed was the price which has been announced at the launch of the Tavera in first week of February 2012. The new model 2012 Chevrolet Tavera Neo 3 comes with two different Diesel engines, one a 2 litre Diesel which is BS4 compliant and other is a 2.5 Litre Diesel which is BS2 compliant engine for different states where different emission norms are applicable in India. Other than this, there are a variety of trim levels to choose from. The basic trim levels include – Chevrolet Tavera Neo, Chevrolet Tavera Neo Max, Chevrolet Tavera New LS and Chevrolet Tavera Neo LT. All these come with two different engine configurations which makes it total of 8 variants. This year’s auto expo was pretty exciting as we not only witnessed some important unveilings and launches but also a number of India bound cars in the form of concept models. Chevrolet, a part of General Motors, showcased a small car and a very interesting India-specific MPV at the auto expo which has been designed to compete against Toyota Innova and yet to be launched Maruti Ertiga. General Motors Regains No.1 Car Seller Position Globally

For a while General Motors was struggling hard to get the position it once used to enjoy every year, of the number one car seller globally. In the meantime Toyota and Volkswagen group were said to be recording enough sales to bring them closer to the top position. Recently Volkswagen was reported to be selling more cars annually than Toyota making it a tough competitor but the official count is out and GM is back to the top spot leaving Toyota and Volkswagen behind. GM has regained the crown for world’s top selling automaker replacing the Toyota Motor Corp, which was crowned top selling automaker in 2011. Three years back the company was on the verge of bankruptcy but interestingly it made a comeback by selling as many as over 9 million vehicles globally, which was a 7.6 % rise over its sales in the year 2010. Chevrolet (General Motors) India has announced an increase in the prices of Chevrolet Cars in India by up to Rs. 15,000 in India. The cars which are selling well in India has seen a hike in prices which includes small cars – Chevrolet Spark and Chevrolet Beat, MPV Chevrolet Tavera and luxury sedan Chevrolet Cruze. Other cars in the portfolio of Chevrolet India have not been touched. The Chevrolet Aveo, Aveo Uva hatchback (soon to be replaced by Chevrolet Sail hatchback) have not seen any price increase. General Motors India unveiled its premium hatchback for India in front of thousands of visitors and media-persons at the Auto Expo 2012 in New Delhi India on 6th of January 2012. Chevrolet Sail hatchback is already sold in China along with its sedan version. GM is testing the Sail hatchback in India for past few months and it has been spotted on camera many times in past 2 months. The Chevrolet Sail is expected to replaced the dates Chevrolet Aveo Uva in India with a modern and feature rich offering. In small car segment, the Chevrolet Spark and Chevrolet Beat are already present and the Beat is quite popular in India already. Wuling Sunshine is a popular MPV from China and it may make its way into India through Chevrolet. General Motors India may introduce a Sunshine based MOV for Indian market at a very aggressive price below Rs. 7 Lakh. The Sunshine has a seating capacity of 7 to 8 adults in its three row of seats. image- Wuling Sunshine MPV The Sunshine is a well tested and reliable product form China which is a similar kind of market as India and there is plenty of demand for MPVs in India specially for the commercial use and for larger families. Chevrolet India has officially announced a price increase in one of their cars Chevrolet Beat Diesel in India and along with it indicated an expected price increase of up to 2% in some other their other cars which will be applicable from January 2012. We expect a higher side price rise in Chevrolet Cruze as it is a popular car, also Chevrolet Tavera and maybe some slight increase in the rest of their car portfolio in India. image – Chevrolet Cruze 2012 Interiors A 2% Increase in a car priced at close to Rs. 13 lakhs (Cruze) would mean about Rs. 25,000 hike in price which is still ok for this segment.
