Maruti Suzuki Celerio was launched in 2014. It became the first mass-market model to benefit from the cost effective AMT tech, which has since found its way into more Maruti products, as well as cars from other manufacturers. While the Celerio diesel might have failed to attract buyers, the petrol variants continue to post strong sales. AMT variants account for a huge chunk of the total sales figure. Now, Maruti Suzuki is preparing to roll out an updated Celerio. New Maruti Celerio 2017 facelift launch is likely to take place towards the end of 2017. Expect changes to be purely cosmetic.

The launch of the 2017ย Maruti Celerio facelift could take place towards the end of this year. Before that, Maruti is expected to launch the facelifted S Cross. The Celerio has been on sale for more than three years now. A facelift will help ensure it stays relevant in the highly competitive small hatchback segment.

Prices of the Maruti Celerio should not witness much of an increase with the launch of the new model. Expect a starting price of around Rs. 4.10 lakh. Currently, the Celerio range starts at Rs. 4.04 lakhs for the base LXi trim. The top end ZXi (O) AMT variant costs Rs. 5.25 lakh (ex showroom Delhi). The implementation of GST July 1 onwards could also lead to an increment in the price of the Celerio.

No changes will be made to the engine and transmission options. It will continue with the current 1.0 L petrol that makes 67 BHP and 90 Nm. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT. In 2015, Maruti launched the Celerio with an 800cc diesel engine. However, despite being one of the most fuel efficient cars in India, it did not find too many takers and forcing Maruti to withdraw the product. We’re not expecting the diesel Celerio to make a comeback.

Since the specifications will remain the same, the fuel efficiency figures might not change either. There could be a slight increase in claimed ARAI mileage of the Maruti Suzuki Celerio.

Above table lists the dimensions of the current model. Since the update will be purely cosmetic, expect most of the dimensions to remain the same. The Celerio comes with a 235 L boot. It has a ground clearance of 165 mm.
New Maruti Celerio 2017 – Design
As is the case with most Maruti Suzuki facelifts, the new Maruti Celerio 2017 will mainly get cosmetic updates. We’re expecting to see a new grille, new bumpers and maybe additional chrome applique all around. Changes might be made to the headlamps and tail lamp designs as well. Other than that, there could be new alloy wheels and new paint shades on offer. The cabin is likely to remain unchanged. There could be new upholstery on offer, but not much else will be new apart from that.
