Mahindra has officially announced that it will increase the prices of Marazzo by Rs 30,000-40,000 effective from 1st January 2019. The current prices were introductory prices, which were set to increase after a bit of a while.
Currently, the prices of Marazzo start at Rs 9.99 Lakhs going up to Rs 13.90 Lakhs for the top-end M8 variant.
The MPV has been designed with the help of Pininfarina design house, which is owned by Mahindra. It sits between the prices of Maruti Ertiga and Toyota Innova Crysta. Other competitor includes Tata Hexa and Renault Lodgy.
Mahindra Marazzo sits on the new ladder-frame chassis. With the help of this frame, the engine of Marazzo is placed transversely, which is not found in many Indian cars.
Marazzo is available in 7-seater and 8-seater options. Both the seating capacity options are available in the first three variants and the top-end M8 comes in only 7-seater option.
The MPV comes with an all-new 1.5 Litre diesel engine, which is BS-IV compliant. The engine puts out 120 BHP and 300 Nm of peak torque.
For transmission purposes, it offers a 5-speed manual setup only. Marazzo misses out on an automatic gearbox as well as a petrol engine.
Mahindra claims that this MPV will deliver a mileage of around 17 kmpl in the city and 22 kmpl on the highway. In real-world driving conditions, the figures could drop by 3-4 kmpl. Even if it delivers a mileage of 13-14 kmpl, the average is quite enough for a car of this size.
Features onboard Mahindra Marazzo include Projector Headlamps, LED Daytime Running Lights, LED Tail-lamps, Touchscreen Infotainment System, Automatic Climate Control, Rear Air-Con Vents, Multifunctional Steering Wheel, Adjustable Steering Wheel and Adjustable Driver’s Seat.
Safety features onboard include Dual Airbags, ABS, EBD, Reverse Parking Camera, Rear Parking Sensors, Disc Brake On All Four-Wheels and Emergency Call.
As mentioned earlier, in this price, there is no direct competition. The prices of Maruti Ertiga and Renault Lodgy end at around Rs 11 Lakhs and Rs 12 Lakhs. On the other hand, Innova Crysta and Hexa start off at Rs 14 Lakhs and Rs 12 Lakhs.
So technically, Mahindra has placed it as a premium choice to Ertiga, priced lower than Innova.
