Toyota has given the Corolla Altis a makeover. And the sedan really needed one. Ever since the new Hyundai Elantra came out, the Corolla has been losing customers to its rival. This facelift is the first major update the current generation Altis has received since its launch in India. In this post, we have compared the old model with the new 2017 Toyota Corolla Altis facelift to find out all that that has changed. Read our Toyota Corolla Altis Old vs New for to know more.

Toyota Corolla Altis Old vs New Model Price Comparison

New Model Ex-showroom Delhi Price Old Model Ex-showroom Delhi Price
Petrol
    J+ Rs. 13.79 lakh
G Rs. 15.88 Lakh G Rs. 15.32 lakh
G AT Rs. 17.53 lakh G AT Rs. 16.62 lakh
GL Rs. 18.31 lakh GL Rs. 17.28 lakh
VL AT  Rs. 19.92 lakh VL AT Rs. 18.67 lakh

New Model Ex-showroom Delhi Price Old Model Ex-showroom Delhi Price
Diesel
  J Rs. 14.82 lakh
  J+ Rs. 15.02 lakh
DG Rs. 17.36 lakh G Rs. 16.43 lakh
DGL Rs. 19.05 lakh GL Rs. 17.58 lakh

Contrary to our expectations, prices of the Toyota Corolla Altis have gone up significantly with the launch of the facelift. The base J trim is no longer on offer. While the G petrol variant of the sedan is pricier by around Rs. 50,000, the rest of the variants now cost a lakh or so more. Top end diesel trim now costs almost 1.5 lakhs more, but it does come with a longer list of features.

Designers have made major modifications to the nose of the car. The facelift features sleeker headlamps and a wider air dam that stretches all the way to the fog lamp housings. These new headlamps are full LED units. A narrower grille on the facelift means the usage of chrome has also gone down. When viewed from the side, there is not much that sets the old and new models apart. There are new alloy wheels on offer.

Towards the rear, the changes are less prominent. In fact, the only noticeable changes include reprofiled tail lights and a thinner chrome garnish above the number plate. Like the current model, the new Corolla’s tail lamps also feature LED detailing.

Basic dashboard design has been carried over. However, there are a few changes. The centre console and the auto aircon controls have been redesigned. Also, the side AC vents are now circular. The materials used along with the upholstery have also been updated. No changes have been made to the steering wheel or instrument console. Toyota Corolla Altis Old vs New Model Comparison Verdict

The launch of the 2017 Toyota Corolla Altis facelift helps liven things up a little. While the changes are purely cosmetic, the updates help mask the car’s age. However, will it help Toyota regain the market share it has lost to the new Hyundai Elantra and Skoda Octavia? Only time will tell. Plus, the prices have gone up significantly making it even more expensive in comparison to its rivals.

  • Design – The new model looks much more modern. There are updates to the interiors as well.
  • Features – There are additions to the features list in the form of LED headlamps, 7 airbags and more.
  • Specifications – The 1.8 L petrol and 1.4 L diesel motors have been carried over unchanged.
  • Price – Prices of the Toyota Corolla Altis have gone up by a significant margin.
